1. Background

Orchid Electronics Limited was founded in 1996. The company's major business fareas are the development and manufacturing of quality electronic products for international markets. Formed by a group of engineers and personnel with extensive experience in the electronics products manufacturing industry, the company offers original product design, development and quality production to its customers.

In late 1998, the factory located in Dong Guan, about 100km north of Hong Kong, was established. The over 3000 sq. m building houses the production operation, material control, warehouse and engineering development departments of the company.

By April 2000, the company was granted the ISO9001 certification. The certification process was an important indication to Orchid's management system as it was a straight through audit on our existing company policy and operation. This is an indication that Orchid started with ISO9000 in its operation right from the very beginning.

In August 2000, the bonding laboratory was established in the factory. The efficiency and quality of the bonding laboratory has been improved rapidly ever since. It is now handling all required bonding process need for the production. The first SMD component insertion line was established by October 2001 which enabled the company to continue its program in diversifying its production process to higher precision and more compact and flexible design of products.

The latest development in production facility is the enhancement of the production line for manufacturing of up to 2.4GHz RF telecom equipment in February 2002. This enables the factory to produce the DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telephones) for the European Telecom market as well as other cordless telecommunication products for the world market.

2. Technology

Orchid's engineering department has developed a wide range of products ranged from standard telephones with various specialized features to the latest high frequency domestic cordless telephones (DECT). The ability of applying the sensor technology to weight measurement also allows the company to develop electronic kitchen and bathroom scales.

The engineering team also works closely with OEM/ODM customers on various consumer and industrial products development.

In addition to the high quality management system, continuous improving production facility and the capable engineering team, Orchid has its own product design team. The company's valuable product design team has been developing most of the company's orignial design products highly accepted by customers in Europe and North America. In fact, our product design work has been part of the important service in our ODM "total solution" right from the initial stage of product development through to the product production offered to our customers.

3. Quality System

Since April 2000, Orchid Electronics Limited has become an ISO9001 certified company. Our quality system is an integrated system implemented throughout the company.

4. Customer Support and Services

Orchid has full capability of developing a variety of electronic products based on customer concepts. Our product designers, software engineers, hardware engineers and graphic designers are experienced in working closely with customers in ODM and OEM projects. We have extended experience in various products including electronic scales, corded telephones, answering machines, call routing products, specialized Telecom headsets and headset base amplifiers, DECT European cordless telephones, and industrial telephone line test equipment. These have helped our customers to save substantial engineering and design cost in project development in many occasions.

Orchid also stresses on the importance of communicating with our customers throughout the development process from the initial development stage through to the production/QA process. Our extensive connection to the local and international suppliers and our quality manufacturing setup are important assets in offering competitive price-performance edge advantageous to handling OEM/ODM projects.
